Can You Help? Eirias Hockey Club Looks to Grow Its Officiating Team

Your Club needs you! - We are seeking three to four individuals who are willing to help officiate our home matches at Eirias Park/Rydal.

 With the promotion of the Ladies 1s team last season, Eirias Hockey Club now have two teams (Mens 1s & Ladies 1s) at Grade 2 level which requires higher levels of match officials (2x level 2 Umpires and a Match Official).

 Training will be given for both roles during the pre-season games ahead of the League starting on Sat 19 Sept.

 Match Official

In the North West, it is a requirement that the home team in any Grade 2 fixture provides a Match Official.

As a Match Official for the Ladies and Mens 1 teams, you will have an important role assisting the Umpires by

·       controlling the teams rolling substitutions

·       Timing of any players suspended from play (inc. Player number)

·       Completing the Match Sheet, logging type of goal scored (FG, PC, PS), who scored, what time the goal was scored

·       Ensure both Team Captains & Umpires sign the sheet at the end of the game.

 Umpires

The Club have some Lvl2 Umpires, but they are mainly in the Mens2 squad. To alleviate the pressures of Umpiring and Playing, the Club would like to invite parents of players, friends of players and players to train as Umpires for the forthcoming 2026/27 season. Once you have completed your online course, our Club Umpire Development Officer’s (Anthony & Matt) can help your Development as you Umpire Ladies 3s, Mens3 and Mens4 during the season before any Level 1 assessment.
